Bloggers Answer: Rainy Day Activities

Get to know your favorite bloggers better with our Bloggers Answer series!

Once a month, we will all answer a question so that you can see who we are – aside from bloggers, sewists, plus/curvy people, etc. Some questions may be sewing related, some may be about our feelings on plus/curvy issues or about mundane things… like rainy days! Read on to see what each of our bloggers love to do – and don’t forget to comment and let us know what other questions you want answered!

Sleeeeepppp! I’m basically a bear and will hibernate for rain or snow. It’s why I cannot live in either a super snowy or rainy climate because I get seasonal depression from lack of sunlight. But a nice rainy nap every once in a while is nice!

Just like the Carpenters say “Rainy Days and Mondays always get me down.”
Okay, only sort of. I actually don’t mind Mondays but I really don’t like rainy days. I don’t get a lot done when it’s gloomy. I need sun to be productive, it recharges me and helps keep my anxiety at bay. So, when it’s rainy I grab my favorite Minky Couture Blanket…(I don’t make my minky blankets – it’s the only thing I think I don’t make), a book, movie or just cuddle with my kids, husband or dogs.

Sleeping, my arthritis likes to play nasty with rain.

I have 3 kids – my activities are to survive. Haaaa!

Hike! I have a Labrador, he needs rain once in a while haha.

My favorite rainy day activity is sewing, of course. Sewing also happens to be my favorite snowy day activity and sunny day activity. Aside from sewing, on a rainy day, I love to make a pot of chili and let it simmer for hours while I watch movies from bed or read a murder mystery book.

Sitting on the porch with either a hot beverage or a glass of wine, reading a book and enjoying the sounds and smells of rain.

We so rarely get rain in Los Angeles that it’s always a nice treat. I love a good, cold rain especially! Bundled up inside with the fire going, cozy socks (my feet are the first thing to get too cold or too hot!), a hot cup of tea, and either a good book or a movie. If I’m snuggled up next to my husband, all the better! But quiet rainy days are nice, too. I love rain. It’s cleansing. It promises something new.

An all time favorite day in my books is laying in bed with the windows open, rainstorm outside and drifting off sleep.

My Favorite rainy day activity is sewing. My second favorite rainy day activity is watching junky TV with snacks in bed snuggling on my mini people.

Sometimes I like to work on something creative, either sewing or building or cooking. But some rainy days are just for cuddling with blankets and movie marathons. Those will usually include hot drinks, a soup and grilled cheese meal and what we call “Snack Night”: all the bad for you appetizer kind of foods you hate to love.

I recently moved to the desert, so I love hearing any rain. If I am not sewing, I love taking a nap while listening to the raindrops hitting the windows. I even find thunderstorms so soothing. I blame white noise machines from the ‘90’s for that. LOL
